I must confess to having a great weekend. Even though G was sick and was prone to keeping us up at night, it was still one of my best lately and I had a fab one last weekend.
On Saturday morning, I took G up to the little coffeeshop, but it was closed because there was no running water available to them. That was a real shame as G had loved the coffeeshop and it allowed us to talk a bit over the Saturday paper. 😉 Instead, we shared a bacon and cheese pasty. I say shared, but he ate all the cheese and te bacon and I didn’ feel like eating sodden pastry, so in essence it was G who ate an entire pasty and had a nutrigrain bar and half of a bottle of orange juice besides. Sickness didn’t affect his appetite.
In the afternoon as my son slept, I finished the revision on my first 30 pages of manuscript in order to submit it to Orbit books. They accept direct submissions from the author. One of the few publishers that still do that. I printed it out and put it in my wife/critiquer’s in tray. It turns out that we did other things with our time and the 30 pages sat unread. We had a good night of watching the first three episodes of Firefly and eating a curry I made.
On Sunday morning, I took G round the park and we fed the ducks/geese some bread we had left over from the previous day. I’d also brought some flour tortillas to feed the acquatic fowl, but all of these were eaten by G, who, it turns out, has a major liking for tortillas which has remained undiscovered until that very morning. So that was entertaining.
In the afternoon, my wife/critiwuer read my first 30 pages and after an opening chapter that she hated, thought the rest was brilliant and laughed loads. Things are looking up! Onto orbit books. 🙂
