A little background…
I haven’t mentioned something here that has been a part of my life for the past year or so. And that is our work Brew Club. It was formed out of a group of people who were sick of the oppressive yoke of freeze-dried corpse coffee, in the case Nescafe. I’d shared with them the loveliness of pre-ground coffee and they’d taken to it with a gusto. So much so that we formed a Club, ordered cafetieres, and a coffee bean grinder. And now every month we buy 5-6 kilos of coffee beans. I even made a set of rules…
#1 – The first rule of Brew Club is, you must talk about Brew Club.
#2 – The second rule of Brew Club is, you MUST talk about Brew Club.
#3 – If someone says when, goes rigid, passes out, the brew is over.
#4 – One guy to a brew.
#5 – One brew at a time.
#6 – No instant, no decaf.
#7 – Brewing will go on as long as it has to.
#8 – If this is your first day in Brew Club, you have to drink.
So today is order day, which occurs every 28th of the month. This is payday and that’s not a coincidence. We order then so that no one can fritter away their Brew Club money.
We order from Coffee Direct where the prices are good and the selection of coffee is even better. I encourage anyone to form their own Brew Club and get ordering coffee beans in bulk!
Our order this month is:
House Blend (908g/2 lb bag)
Golden Crema (454g/1 lb bag)
Smooth Mountain (454g/1 lb bag)
Barista Reserve (454g/1 lb bag)
Kenya AA (908g/2 lb bag)
Original All-Nighter (908g/2 lb bag)
Italian (908g/2 lb bag)
Smokey Joe’s (454g/1 lb bag)
Turbo (454g/1 lb bag)
Santa’s Blend (454g/1 lb bag)
That comes to over 6.3kg of coffee or 16 pounds of coffee. That’s right about what we drink in a 4-5 week period. We love our coffee!
